January 4th 2014 has been marked in my Filofax for a very long time. Tomorrow, one of my best friends, the only person I am still close to since leaving school - gets Married.
As we planned imaginary weddings during nights of watching "Sex and the City", drinking Asti and eating
pizza - I never ever thought I wouldn't get to be there to see her dreams realised.
I love her so much. I am so proud of her. At 18 she took a gap year which she spent 9 months of travelling around New Zealand and Australia. She studied Law in Manchester and since graduating she's worked for a well respected Law firm in the city, pulling in 12hour days in the office.
She has always been an amazingly supportive friend to me, she's always been more than generous with me and the kids.
I want her to know how sorry I am that I can't be there to share her special day, to see how beautiful she looks in her dress, to see her make her grand entrance and watch her walk down the aisle, to witness her say her vows.
However, in a world of modern technology I am hopeful that I will receive the odd photo update, allowing me a sneaky peek in to their day.
Please join me in wishing Mr & Mrs Dominic Laverty all the very best for their future together. I love you both so very much.
