I'm desperate to make the most of our time together before our next appointment in London in May, to enjoy being a regular family with just the regular worries. I don't go anywhere without my camera and this half term I've been happily snapping away as the kids enjoy themselves.
We had the bonus of an INSET day on Friday before Half Term Holidays officially started. Mark booked the day off and we planned to take the kids out for the day.
We had a lazy morning with pancakes for Breakfast, Mark even managed to get a bike ride done. Grabbed a quick lunch at home and headed for the SeaQuarium in Rhyl. The schools in Denbighshire hadn't broken up yet so we had the place to ourselves for most of the afternoon.
The girls are only little so once they've caught sight of the fish in the tank they're ready to move on to the next display; Osh takes more of an interest and will read the info accompanying each display and you get a "Wow, Mam did you know...".
On our way home from the SeaQuarium we stopped off at Hickory's Smokehouse in Rhos-On-Sea. Osh and the girls have never been and Osh was made up with the food - even more so with the "create your own" Frozen Yogurt.
We took a trip to the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm in Tattenhall on the Monday. From what I'd seen on the website I assumed it was a small attraction, we arrived just after half 10 in the morning and we were parking in the overflow car park - it was heaving!
It was a gorgeous sunny day but bitterly cold so I didn't want to spend too long outside as it wasn't fair to Martha Grace. The kids loved the soft play area; the girls took off into one area where there were slides and Osh in the opposite direction where there were cannons to shoot plastic balls at the "enemy". But of course, the whole point of an Ice Cream farm is to have Ice Cream (even if it is cold outside) so Osh had a Fudge, Isabella chose Vanilla and Martha chose Strawberry.
Even though neither of them is actually looking at the camera - I do like this picture of my three on a tractor.
Osh was due to spend the latter half of the week with his dad so our last day was the Wednesday. We went with my Grandparents on the Llangollen Railway to Corwen.
Osh doesn't travel well anymore so the journey down the A5 was plagued by toilet stops and needing to get him out of the car for some fresh air. But once we were seated on the train everyone tucked into their picnic and were as good as gold for the entire journey. To be honest, my kids love a picnic and I think they'd eat every meal that way. Even if I just make up a flask with tea and pack some biscuits to take with us on a drive somewhere - my kids would be over the moon.
It was our 5th wedding anniversary at the weekend, Osh was with his dad and the girls went to stay with my parents - Mark and me stayed at The Mere (nr Knutsford) for the night which was just heavenly.
We're back to the day-to-day routines of school and housework now, but it's only a short term and in a few weeks we have Easter Holidays and some more family days out to look forward to.
