May Day Bank Holiday was a bit of a bust; we'd packed up a picnic and headed up for Llyn Geirionydd (a lake near Betws-Y-Coed) and I thought I'd get the loveliest photo's of the kids playing/paddling in the lake. But we missed the turning and ended up on a single track road with nowhere to turn around for miles. We ended up just parking the car and having our picnic in there.
I got quite upset, it was our last full day off together as a family before Martha's appointment and I'd built up this idea of a perfect day out in my head. It's one of the things that frustrates Mark the most about me - that I try to plan everything down to the last detail that I get myself in such a state when things don't go according to my plan.
The following Saturday was a reasonably sunny day so when I arrived home from work we decided to get the kids out of the house and head for Llanberis. I've wanted to stop at Pen Y Llyn for our "Me and Mine" photo for ages but we've not had the chance yet (and after last weekend I've also learnt that it's not possible, the bridge is so narrow that a passing car would run over my camera tripod)
The kids are sat on a Bridge at the end of Padarn Lake, the mountain in the background is Snowdon herself. I've chosen the photo at the top of the post as my "official" photo because it's one of the few where all three are looking at the camera at the same, but I also like the way Martha is kind of snuggled into Osh and how he has protectively got his arm around her.
When Mammi got all the photo's she wanted we sat down to enjoy our panad and cakes picnic. This little outing more than made up for the Bank Holiday; an outing that I hadn't planned and didn't have any high expectations for but was just perfect in every way.
This month, Isabella has started Ballet lessons and I'm so happy that she's enjoying it; though when we ask her to show us some of the moves she learnt - she does the "Robot", either she's making it up or Ballet has come a long way in the last 23 years.
If you have followed us for a while then you might know that I've had two separate visits to Great Ormond Street Hospital this week, with Osh on Tuesday and with Martha Grace on Thursday and I'll be writing another post going into detail about how we got on. I am most definitely feeling a lot calmer tonight compared to how I felt at the beginning of the week.
I hope you've all had a lovely month and have enjoyed the recent warmer weather. Thanks again for your support.
