Dechox - 1 week in

Giving up chocolate for a month doesn't sound difficult, it doesn't really sound like a challenge. When I decided to sign up to Dechox 2018 for The British Heart Foundation I knew there were times when I'd struggle.

I don't think I realised how often I actually consumed chocolate in one form or another.

It's relatively easy while I'm at work. I take non-chocolate snacks with me and I'm usually distracted enough that it doesn't bother me. At home - it's a whole different story.

I still bought chocolate and chocolate biscuits for the kids, they are in the cupboard and the tonight they had a hot chocolate each and shared a packet of chocolate Bourbon biscuits. They happily dunked without giving it a second thought. I miss that, I miss the simple Bourbon biscuit with my panad.

I met Mark in town for lunch. We were short on time as we were meeting during his lunch hour so I told myself if I didn't have time for a cake then I'd have a Hot Chocolate with my lunch instead. Then I realised that in fact - I couldn't have a Hot Chocolate.

Friday was something else! Our neighbour had a burst pipe and the water leaked through to our house. I needed to comfort eat after a really crappy day and a plain shortbread biscuit won't do the same as a good old slab of Dairy Milk or Galaxy. Mark went out to get milk and came back with Crinkle Crunch Creams, slightly more exciting than a shortbread finger.

I've started collecting bits for Easter for the kids; Creme Eggs, Maltezer Bunny's, Galaxy Eggs and it's taking all of my willpower not to tear open a bag and scoff the whole lot right now.

I'm so glad that I didn't decide to give up Tea instead.

I think what makes it hard is that I know I can't have chocolate. Knowing that I'm not allowed it makes me want chocolate more. Donations have started coming in on my JustGiving page, the only way I'm going to be able to keep at it is by reminding myself of why I'm doing this in the first place. If you have already donated, thank you so much for your support. If you haven't, would you please consider sponsoring me as the funds raised go to an amazing charity. If you're unable to sponsor me, please could you share my post/page so that it might reach someone who could.

Thanks once again for the amazing support.
