If you'd have told me 10 years ago that by the time I was 31 I'd be married, have an additional two children and become a member of the National Trust - there is no way on this earth I would have believed you.
Actually, if you'd have told me 5 years ago that in 2018 I'd be making the most of our National Trust membership cards for "free" days out to save the pennies for our first family holiday abroad - I never would have believed that either.
But that's exactly how my life appears to have turned out.
I had a straight run of 4 days off last week; we had a couple of days at home/ at my grandparents, we had one day with cousins (who are also NT members) and on the last day - Mark took the day off to be with us.
Regular visitors to my blog/Facebook/Instagram will know that I love a road trip, packing a picnic and a flask for tea and making my poor family pose for photos. This is exactly what we did. Erddig is about an hour and a half's drive from us. We arrived, had a little walk around the garden's, took some photos and then sat down for a picnic.
After lunch, we had a walk around the house itself. The team had hidden 9 teddies around the house and this kept the girls occupied enough that Mark, Osh and I could enjoy walking around the rooms.
Their play area is called the "Wolf's Den", it wasn't the usual swings and slide type, but more like little courses made out of the tree's for the kids to climb. Playing here wore them out a little bit and it was easy to coax them to come for a panad and a sit down on the deck chairs on the lawn.
Here are some of the photo's I managed to take while we were there.
He's 12, how is he getting so old???
I used to think Martha was tiny, but she's catching up to Isabella now.
I'm their Mammi, these three are mine.
Rarely get a photo of the two of us together, but Osh is getting better at using my camera.
I wish Mark would have smiled for this photo, it's a great photo of Isabella with her Daddy.
Martha was being a clown making Osh laugh. I love how close these two are.
One last photo. You have no idea how much I love these three.
I think what I'm loving the most of our NT membership is that it's getting us out to places we wouldn't normally consider going to. We would have had to pay £35 for the five of us to get in to Erddig - but the monthly fee is only £10 a month and it was the second NT property we visited that week. We've already had our monies worth of the yearly £120 fee and we're only 4 months in.
We've already had three weeks of summer holidays, I just hope the next three weeks slow down. So many people to see and things to do, we also need to fit in school shoes shopping somewhere in our plans.
Hope your summer holidays are as lovely as ours.
