As I sit and type this; Mark is watching football on the telly, Osh has gone to his dads for Christmas there and my Mum and Dad have taken the girls to visit my Dad's mum. I had a new toy for Christmas and suddenly felt the urge to blog.
This Christmas has to have been the most important one ever. For one thing we're getting to celebrate it on the 25th December, but also because Martha Grace is home with us. Whatever happens through 2015; I want the children to remember this Christmas - I want them to remember the fun, the love and the laughter. If all is well in 2015 - then our job next Christmas is to do the same again.
So with that in mind I decided that I would start a little "tradition" for the kids; something that we would do every year and the kids would know to look forward to. I'd seen several bloggers put together posts on "Christmas Eve Baskets" over the past few weeks; a little basket of treats for their children to have on Christmas Eve - I fell in love with the idea.
I popped out to our local hardware store to pick up our basket and while we were out doing our Christmas Shopping I picked up a few bits to fill it with. I included :- new pj's for each child, some hot chocolate,
chocolates and chocolate biscuits. I also bought them some new books "T'was the night before Christmas" and "Christmas in North Wales" - for Martha I bought the picture book for "The Snowman" which she actually flicked through quite happily. The DVD's I put in there were ones we already owned but love watching on Christmas Eve which were "The Snowman" and "The Muppet's Christmas Carol"

Mark always work's Christmas Eve but not because he has to, just because he'd rather use his leave to have more time off after Christmas. When he got home we brought the basket out and showed the kids - who had great fun pulling everything out and seeing what was inside the basket. We all sat in the lounge to eat our dinner and watched "The Snowman"; then we bathed the three of them we snuggled down to watch "The Muppet's Christmas Carol" and read the books while we drank hot chocolate and ate the sweets.
I honestly feel like it was a lovely thing to do to add to the excitement of the occasion and will definitely be doing it again next year.
Mark and I have our own tradition, where on his way home from work he stops to get me flowers - he's done it every Christmas that we've been together and I hope the children grow up remembering that "Daddy always bought Mammi flowers on Christmas Eve - that's what being in Love is about"
Here are some flowers from our Christmas Eve, I hope you all had a good one this year.
